SPECIFICATIONS

There are approximately 2,540 logs in the Northwest Geological Service collection. The original logs have been scanned at a resolution of 200 DPI. 2,240 of them are black and white TIFF files, and 300 are color JPEG files. This has varied according to the availability and quality of the originals. Accompanying the log files is a spreadsheet file containing well header information, API numbers and lat-long coordinates for each well.

Included with the log images is a map showing the geographic distribution of the logs across the region. This map includes the unique log number posted next to the map symbol to facilitate your data search. The map is in Adobe Acrobat format, and is printable on most printers or plotters.

The sample logs are in a CD-R format with the complete data set totaling 2.4 gigabytes in size. The average log file size is 300 KB in black and white TIFF format and 3.8 megabytes in colored log JPEG format. The entire collection will be on seven CD’s subdivided by geographic region.
